Clement Stahl wins Réunion Open

The 16th International Réunion Island Open was held from 18th to 25th October at the Salle des Fetes de Bellepierre in Saint-Denis, Réunion Island.

The tournament was organized by the Echiquier du Nord and was completed over 9 rounds of Swiss system.

57 players from 13 clubs competed. Clement Stahl from Club du Canal St-Martin Paris emerged clear winner with 7,5/9 points to collect the top prize of 1200 EUR.

14th Sautron Open 2014 LIVE!

The 14th Sautron Chess Open is taking place from 25th October to 1st November 2014 in Sautron, a commune in the Loire-Atlantique département in western France.

The event is a 9-round Swiss with a time control 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game plus 30 seconds increment starting from move one.

Top seed is Ukrainian GM Alexander Zubarev (2588).

Leaders emerge at EYCC 2014 in Batumi

The 24th European Youth Chess Championship 2014 is afoot in Georgian coastal town Batumi. After 5 rounds we already have the leaders in their age groups.

In the group Boys U18 Valerii Iovcov (MDA) and FM Melih Yurtseven (TUR) are in the lead with 4.5 points. U16 IM Maksim Vavulin (RUS) and Andreas Kelires (CYP) top also with 4.5 points. In the group U14 FM Ariel Erenberg from Israel is in the sole lead with 5 points.

Historical win for Hou Yifan in Corsica

The reigning World Women Champion Hou Yifan continues to write history winning the strong 18th Corsican Circuit that took place on 18-22nd October 2014 in Corsica, an island in the Mediterranean Sea belonging to France.

24th World Senior Chess Championships 65+ LIVE!

The 24th FIDE World Senior Chess Championships are held from 23rd October to 5th November 2014 in the conference center of the 5 – star hotel “Mediterranean Village” in Katerini, Greece.

The Section Seniors 65+ consists of 92 players from 36 different countries are taking part in the event, including 6 GMs, 10 IMs and 14 FMs.

Top seed is French GM Anatoly Vaisser (2531).

24th World Senior Chess Championships Women 50+ & 65+ LIVE!

The 24th FIDE World Senior Chess Championships are held from 23rd October to 5th November 2014 in the conference center of the 5 – star hotel “Mediterranean Village” in Katerini, Greece.

The Section Women 50+ & 65+ consists of 25 players from 8 different countries are taking part in the event, including 1 GM, 5 WGMs, 5 WIMs and 4 WFMs.

Philippine International Chess Championship

The National Chess Federation of the Philippines has the honor to invite all Chess Federations affiliated with FIDE to participate in the Philippine International Chess Championship on 5-12th December 2014 in Quezon City, Philippines.
