“Chess Olympiad in Tromsø will go ahead”

Baltic Cup 2014 LIVE!

The traditional Ilyumzhinov Baltic Cup 2014 is starting on 6th June, 2014 in Liepaja, a city in western Latvia, located on the Baltic Sea.

12 participants from the Baltic countries (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia) will take part in the event. First seed is the reigning Latvian champion for men GM Igor Kovalenko.

The Skaksamband Islands has announced the lineups for the 41st Chess Olympiad in Tromsø, Norway.

European Chess Club Cup 2014

The 30th European Club Cup and the 19th European Club Cup for Women will take place on 13-21st September, 2014, at the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao, Spain.

The championships will be held in 7 rounds, played in the Swiss system in accordance with the ECU Tournament Rules.

This competition is offering the possibility to achieve GM or IM-norms based on 7 games.

Pula Open 2014

The 28th International Open Tournament Pula 2014 is taking place on 7-14th June at the Hotel Park Plaza Histria in Pula, Croatia.

The 9-round Swiss event is organized by the Chess Club Pula and Croatian Chess Federation. The total prize fund is 8750 EUR.

At the present, 185 players from 17 countries are registered to take part in the event. Among them are 8 Grandmasters and 13 International Masters.

Vladimir Putin welcomed the young participants in the “White Rook Tournament”

The Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed the participants in the traditional children’s tournament “White rook”. The opening ceremony took place on 2nd June, 2014 at OK “Dagomys”, in Sochi.

The team championship is a 9 round Swiss event with a time control 1 hour per player plus 10 seconds per move starting from move 1.

Nigeria selected players for Chess Olympiad in Tromso

Nigeria flagFollowing the qualification process, the Nigeria Chess Federation has announced the players which will represent the country at the 41st Chess Olympiad in Tromso, Norway.
