“Tournament of the Champions”

Bulgarian teamThe “Tournament of the Champions” is a 10-player round-robin tournament taking place from 14-21 May 2018 in Pleven, Bulgaria. Players receive 90 minutes for the entire game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.

FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar in Durres – Results

A FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was organized from 23 to 27 April 2018 in Durres, Albania, by the FIDE Arbiters’ Commission, in cooperation with the Albanian Chess Federation and under the auspices of FIDE.

The venue of the Seminar was the “FA FA Resort” Hotel, in Durres.

The Lecturer was IA Jamie Kenmure (AUS), FIDE Lecturer and the Assistant Lecturers were IA Argiris Kitharidis (GRE). Alexandros Iskos (GRE) and IA Margit Brokko (EST).

The lectures were in English language.

Polish Women’s Championship 2018

Poland flagThe 2018 Budimex Polish Women’s Championship is a 10-player single round-robin taking place in the Trading Room of the Warsaw Stock Exchange from 12-20 May. The top prize is the same as for the open – 20,000 PLN (about $5,500), with the top two qualifying for the Polish team.

Svatopluk Svoboda wins Czech Championship

czech-republic-flagThe Czech Championship took place from 28 April to 6 May, 2018 in Ostrava.
60 players took part in the tournament.
The winner is FM Svatopluk Svoboda with 7 points out of 9. Second is GM Vojtěch Plát and third is IM Richard Biolek, both with 6.5 points.

Open 2018 La Habana

Capablanca MemorialThe 53rd edition of the Capablanca Memorial is taking place from May 9-19 in the Habana Libre Hotel in Havana, Cuba.
Apart from the round-robin tournament there will be an Open tournament with 160 players, among them 25 GMs.

Sebastien Feller wins Metz Open 2018

MetzMetz open was held from 1 to 7 May.
60 players took part.
The winner is GM Sebastien Feller with 7 points out of 9.
Second is GM Sergey Fedorchuk with 6,5 and third is Andrei Shchekachev also with 6.5 points
