The 2nd Lviv Tradition February Chess Tournament 2016 is taking place from February 23-28, at the Hotel Nton, in the splendid city of Lviv, situated in western Ukraine.

The event is a 10-player single round-robin tournament with an average Elo rating of 2259.

Top seed is Indian player IM Upadhyaya Anwesh (2399).

The 7th Manacor GM Chess Tournament is taking place from February 21-28, in Porto Christo, Palma de Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain.

The event is a single round-robin tournament with an average rating of 2496. Top seed is GM Olexandr Bortnyk (2534).

Women’s World Chess Championship Match 2016 between the current World Champion Maria Muzychuk of Ukraine and her challenger Hou Yifan of China (former World Champion 2010-2012, 2013-2015) is taking place in Lviv, Ukraine, on March 1-18, 2016.

The Open International D’Echecs Cappelle La Grande 2016 took place on February 13-20, in France.

The event was a 9-round Swiss open with the participation of 538 players.

GM Gata Kamsky emerged a solo winner with 7.5/9 points, leaving the nearest followers half a point behind.

A FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar is going to be organized from 15 to 18 March 2016 in Baku, Azerbaijan, by the Azerbaijan Chess Federation and under the auspices of FIDE.
