Stockholm Chess Challenge 2016 LIVE!

The Stockholm Chess Challenge gathers world renown young talents from March 8 – 13, 2016, in Sweden.

Sweden’s young talents will be challenged by young and strong international players in order to encourage them to get IM- and GM norms. The event is a 9-round invitational title tournament for players aged 25 or younger.

2nd Austrian Bundesliga 2015/2016

The 2nd Austrian Team Chess Championship 2015/2016 is taking place from October 17, 2015, to April 10, 2016.

Twelve teams are competing in round-robin format to decide the winner.

Top seed is ASVÖ Pamhagen, headed by Slovakian GMs Jan Markos and Peter Michalik.

Heusenstamm Sparkassen Open 2015 LIVE!

The Heusenstamm Sparkassen Open 2015 is taking place from November 26-29, in Heusenstamm, Germany.

The event is a 7-round Swiss open tournament with first prize in the amount of 1,000 EUR.

Top seed is GM Konstantin Landa (2625) from Russia.

FIDE Commission for Women’s Chess – Simul with Antoaneta Stefanova

The 10th Women’s World Chess Champion and 2002 European Women’s Chess Champion GM Antoaneta Stefanova from Bulgaria will hold a simultaneous exhibition in Nis, Serbia, on Saturday, 28th November, 2015.

Her visit to Nis is organized and sponsored by FIDE and Commission for Women’s Chess (WOM) in interest of popularization of chess for young girls.

53rd India National Premier Chess Championship – Round 12

Sixteen year old Karthikeyan Murali of Tamil Nadu emerged sole leader with 8.5 points beating Swapnil Dhopade of Railways in the twelfth and penultimate round of the ONGC 53rd National Premier Chess Championship, organised by Tiruvarur District Chess Association at Kasi’s Inn, Tiruvarur, today.

StockholmHallsberg’s tournament became a famous concept within Swedish chess.

Three title norms won in Kragujevac Tournaments

For the second year running the Central Serbia Chess Federation organized the round robin tournaments for the GM and IM norms. The tournaments were held from 17-23rd November in Hotel “Sumarice” in Kragujevac.

The Grandmaster event had 10 participants, while the IM event, dedicated to the memory of former CSCF President Milutin Karaklajic, had 6 participants.

FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar in Samara, Russia – Results

From 5 to 9 November 2015 a FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was organized in Samara region, Russia, by the Russian Chess Federation and under the auspices of FIDE.

The venue of the Seminar was the sanatorium Tsiolkovsky in Samara.

The lecturer was IA Alexander Tkachev (RUS), FIDE Lecturer, and Assistant Lecturer was IA Stanislav Yanusevsky (RUS).

British Knockout Championship at the 7th London Chess Classic Festival

A new high-level event is joining the extensive list of tournaments that make up the 7th London Chess Classic Festival: Eight of Britain’s best chess players, with the exception of Michael Adams, who plays in the Classic itself, will contest the inaugural British Knockout Championship.

Four-way tie for the first place at UT Dallas Open Fall 2015

DallasThe 2015 edition of UT Dallas Open Fall took place November 20 – 25 in the Embassy Suites Dallas – Park Central.

The event was a nine rounds event 45 players from 18 different countries participated.
