Levon Aronian extends his lead at WR Chess Masters 2023

Levon Aronian’s fifth-round win doesn’t mean a preliminary decision in the WR Chess Masters, but the 40-year-old is now the clear favorite to win the tournament. After his full point against Anish Giri, Aronian leads the standings with four points from five games, one ahead of Wesley So and Gukesh with three each. With his third win in the tournament, Aronian is back in the world’s top 10 (live ranking).

The G20 Hungarian Youth Championship 2023 is tournament taking place from 20–25 February 2023 in Budapest, Hungary. Players receive 90 minutes for the entire game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one. It is an 26-player round-robin with participation of Luca Karacsonyi, Eszter Sulyok, Kata Buri, Nikoletta Toth, Petra Zsuzsanna Buri, Emma Harkai, Reka Gyongyver Ivan, Stefania Sipos, Lidia Emilia Molnar, Inez Kiss, etc.

U20 Hungarian Youth Championship 2023 – LIVE

The U20 Hungarian Youth Championship 2023 is taking place from 20–25 February 2023 in Budapest, Hungary. Players receive 90 minutes for the entire game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one. It is an 26-player round-robin tournament with Alex Krstulovic, Roland Reviczki, Lili Toth, Bence Pribelszky, Balazs Pasztor, Agoston Juhasz, Koppany Geher, Matyas Palczert, Simon Fule, Lazar Matyassy, etc.

The WR Chess Masters super-tournament will take place from 16-25 February in Dusseldorf, Germany. The ECU Commission for Women’s Chess is organizing the 2nd edition of the ECU Girls’ and Women’s Chess Weekend. The event will take place on the weekend 25. – 26.02.2023.

39th International Open of Cappelle la Grande started

The 39th edition of the International Open of Cappelle la Grande is taking place from 18-24 February in Cappelle-la-Grande, France. The event is played in 9 rounds, swiss system, with time control of 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment beginning from move one. Total prize fund is €12,000, including the first place prize of €2,000.

After two played rounds, as many as 38 players scored the maximum 2/2 points.

39th International Open of Cappelle la Grande – LIVE

The 39th edition of the International Open of Cappelle la Grande is taking place from 18-24 February in Cappelle-la-Grande, France. The event is played in 9 rounds, swiss system, with time control of 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment beginning from move one. The total prize fund is €12,000, including the first place prize of €2,000.
