Hedinn Steingrimsson is 2015 Icelandic Chess Champion

Hedinn Steingrimsson concluded his stellar performance in the 2015 Icelandic Championship by defeating his closest rival, Hjorvar Steinn Gretarsson, to move to an outstanding final score of 9,5/11 points.

This is Steingrimsson’s third national title, his first coming way back in 1990 at only 15 years of age. That still stands as the youngest winner of the championship.

The event has 8 sections: Open, Under 2300, Under 2100, Under 1900, Under 1700, Under 1500, Under 1300 and Under 1000.

The Open section is a 9-round Swiss tournament, valid for FIDE rating and norms.
