The 2015 edition of the traditional chess tournament Reykjavik Open was held from 10-18th March at the Harpa Conference Hall.

FIDE Women’s World Championship – Round 1.2

The return games of the first round of the FIDE Women’s World Championship were played at the CS Galactica (Sochi, Krasnaya Polyana) on March 18.

Reykjavik Open – Round 9 Video

The 2015 edition of the traditional chess tournament Reykjavik Open is taking place from 10-18th March at the Harpa Conference Hall.

A total of 274 players from 37 countries, including 42 Grandmasters and 30 International Masters, are taking part in the event.

GM L’ami Erwin (NED 2605) secured the overall tournament victory with a round to spare. With 8,5 points from 9 games he is 1,5 points ahead of his nearest rivals.

FIDE Women’s World Championship – Round 1.1

The first round of the FIDE Women’s World Championship (Sochi, Krasnaya Polyana), attended by 64 players from 28 countries, was played today at the CS Galaktica.

Igor Levitin, adviser of the Russian President, made a symbolic first move of the championship in the game of the highest rated player Humpy Koneru (India).

Press conference on the Chess in Schools project

A press-conference dedicated to cooperation of the Sistema Charity Fund and the Non-profit Partnership Chess in Schools aimed at introducing chess into the Russian school curriculum and increasing the role of chess in general education took place at the Women’s World Chess Championship press center on March 17.

Al Ain Youth Chess Championship (rich prize fund)

The Al Ain Chess Club invites all youth players U15 with FIDE ID to participate in the 1st ALAIN Youth Chess Championships U15, that will be held for the first year in the chess city of ALAIN between 5h and 12th of April 2015.

The tournament will take place at ALAIN Rotana Hili Hotel.
