GM Wojtaszek winner of the 3rd Polish-Hungarian friendship tournament

After two days of struggle we know the winners in Katowice (3rd Polish-Hungarian friendship tournament). GM Radosław Wojtaszek (POL) won the tournament (8 points), second place got GM Zbigniew Pakeza (POL), the third player was GM Kacper Piorun (POL).

In women’s classification the first place went to WIM Klara Varga (HUN). WIM Anna Gasik (POL) got the second place, the third place occupied WGM Karina Szczepkowska-Horowska (POL).

Le Quang Liem clear first in HDBank Cup

The 5th HDBank Cup International Open Chess tournament 2015 was held from 17-22nd March in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.

80 players from 13 countries participated in the 9-round Swiss tournament. Among them were 20 Grandmasters and 19 International Masters.

Local star GM Le Quang Liem took the winner’s trophy and top prize of 12,000 USD after finishing clear first with 7,5/9 points.

FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar in Cali, Colombia

FIDE Women’s World Championship – Round 2 Tiebreaks

Following the 2nd round with the classical time control, the sixth day of the FIDE Women’s World Championship (Sochi, Krasnaya Polyana) was reserved for the tie-breaks with rapid and blitz games.

Five pairs were to settle the score in this format.

LIC 2nd International GM Tournament – Nigel Short and SS Ganguly are the leaders

Top seed Nigel Short of England and six consecutive times Indian champion Surya Shekhar Ganguly jointly lead with 5.5 points each at the end of the sixth round of the LIC 2nd International Grandmasters Chess tournament, organised by Dibyendu Barua Chess Academy and All Sport Foundation, at the Indian Council of Cultural Relations, Kolkata. Four players – world junior champion Lu Shanglei and IM Wang Chen, both from China, IM Shardul Gagre of India and Stupak Kirill of Belarus are breathing at the shoulders of the leaders with five points each.

2nd Kolkata GM Chess Tournament LIVE!

The 2nd Kolkata International Grandmasters Chess Tournament is taking place from 15-24th March at the Indian Council For Cultural Relations, 9A Ho Chi Minh Sarani, Kolkata-71, India.

The event is a 9-round Swiss tournament with total prize fund in the amount of INR 10,00,000/- (approx 15,000 EUR).

Top seed is English GM Short Nigel (2664).
