GM Danielsen publishes The Polar Bear System

The famous Grandmaster from Iceland – Henrik Danielsen – has published his first edition of The Polar Bear System. GM Danielsen shared, “I have spent 15 years developing the Polar Bear system. Indeed I have turned every stone in the system and lost many games in doing so. Since there is no theory of importance I had to work hard. I read everything about the Dutch defense and used the ideas with reversed colors. So the theory in the book is mainly created with my own games and analysis.”

Central Serbia Open 2015

The Central Serbia Open 2015 is taking place 09-15 March in Kragujevac. A total of 56 players participate, among them 10 GMs, 5 IMs, and 7 FMs.

Evgeniy Najer is new European Chess Champion

Russian Grandmaster Evgeniy Najer has won the 2015 European Chess Championship in the competition of 250 players from 33 countries, including 115 Grandmasters.

In the final round Najer held his compatriot GM Denis Khismatullin with black pieces to emerge clear winner on 8,5/11 points.

India-China Match, Round 6 Video

India and China are playing a 4-board Scheveningen Match on 1-10th March in Hyderabad.

In round 6 China won by 3-1 to extend the lead to 13,5-10,5.

From 28 February to 1 March 2015 a FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was organized in Melbourne, Australia, by the Chess Victoria in cooperation with the Australia Chess Federation and under the auspices of FIDE.

The venue of the Seminar was the Melbourne Chess Club in Melbourne.

The lecturer was IA N.Y. Wong (SIN), FIDE Lecturer and Assistant Lecturer was IA Peter Tsai (AUS), Vice-President of Chess Victoria.

The lectures were in English language.
