Vugar Gashimov Memorial 2015

The 2nd Vugar Gashimov Memorial should take place in April or May in Shamkir, Azerbaijan, Lent.az reports.

Azerisport speculated earlier that the main event will once again be six-player round-robin.

160 players participated in Portuguese Youth Team Semifinals, Lisbon

The Portuguese Chess Federation organized the National Youth Team Semifinals 2014/2015 on 7th February, 2015, in Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal.

The event was a 7-round Swiss team event with tempo of play 15′ + 10″ and it was organized under the auspices of Secondary School Padre António Vieira, Estrelas S. João de Brito and Junta de Freguesia de Alvalade.

Sergey Galakhov walked through Moscow Open Amateur Tournament

The 55-years old Russian Sergey Galakhov dominated the Moscow Open – RSSU Cup C tournament, reserved for amateurs, in the field of 326 players.

Galakhov started with eight consecutive victories before settling for the only draw in the final round. The nearest opposition was left full point behind.

Ernesto Inarkiev convincing in Moscow Open 2015

Grandmaster Ernesto Inarkiev emerged convincing winner of the Moscow Open – RSSU Men’s Cup 2015 after defeating Russian champion Igor Lysyj in the final round.

18th International Open Lienz 2015

The 18th International Lienz Open is taking place from 7th to 14th February, 2015, at the RGO-Arena Julius-Durst-Straße 6, 9900 Lienz, a medieval town in the Austrian state of Tyrol.

The total prize fund of the festival is 10,000 EUR with 1900 EUR reserved for the winner of Open A.

Top seed is  Spaniard GM Korneev Oleg (2591).
