Interview with IM Milan Zajic: “Success is when you do what makes you happy”

IM Milan Zajic, 16 years old talented chess player from Serbia with current rating 2452, continues his amazing string of successful performances, winning the strong “Georgi Tringov” Memorial Open Tournament in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Zajic head the field of 289 players, including 14 GMs and 23 IMs, performing 2622 ELO, adding 23 new points to his rating and fulfilling his second GM norm.

7th Batavia Chess Tournament 2015 LIVE!

The 7th Batavia Chess Tournament takes place from 20th February to 1st March, 2015 in Café Batavia 1920, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

The event is a 10-player all-play-all tournament, valid for FIDE rating and norms, with tempo of play 90′/ 40 + 30′ + 30″.

Moscow State Institute of International Relations hosted FIDE President’s Cup

The 1st FIDE President’s Cup for diplomatic corps was held on 13th February at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO).

The event gathered 37 players from the ranks of diplomatic personnel, students, staff and guests of the Institute.

The participants were greeted by FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, President of the Russian Chess Federation Andrei Filatov, Vice Rector of MGIMO Artem Malgin and State Duma deputy Belan Hamchiev.

Match Korchnoi-Uhlmann tied 2-2

The rapid match between the chess legends Viktor Korchnoi and Wolfgang Uhlmann concluded today in Zurich.

After the first batch of games on Sunday the result was 1-1.

On Monday Korchnoi won the third game with black pieces, but Uhlmann equalised in the next game for the final score 2-2.

The match was one of the side events organized during the Zurich Chess Challenge 2015.

Alexander Nosenko tops Lienz Open 2015

LienzThe 18th International Lienz Open took place from 7th to 14th February, 2015, at the RGO-Arena Julius-Durst-Straße 6, 9900 Lienz, a medieval town in the Austrian state of Tyrol.

The event was a 9-round Swiss tournament with first prize in the amount of 1900 EUR in cash.
