The 3rd tournament of the FIDE Grand Prix was opened tonight at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Tbilisi, Georgia.

After the drawing of lots the first round pairings are known:

The third stage of the FIDE Grand Prix series 2014-2015 is taking place from 14-28th February in Tbilisi, the capital and largest city of Georgia.

The event is a twelve-player round-robin tournament, part of the FIDE World Chess Championship cycle. The winner and second placed player overall of the GP Series will qualify for the next Candidates Tournament.

The Elite Hotels Open is taking place from 13-15th February, 2015, in Vaxjo, a city in Sweden.

The event is an 8-round Swiss open with tempo of play 15′ + 5″ for the first 4 rounds and 90′ + 30″ for the second half of the tournament.

174 players from 14 different countries take part in the event, including 10 GMs, 7 IMs, 1 WIM and 1 FMs.

Top seed is German Olympic player GM Georg Meier (2641).

The CJKS-Prime Distribution Group GM Tournament 2015 took place on 5-13th February, 2015, in Chittagong, Bangladesh.

The event was a 10-player round-robin tournament including 3 Grandmasters, 4 International Masters, 1 Woman Grandmaster and 2 FIDE Masters. The winners received two thousand five hundred US dollars (2,500 $) in total.

GM Abdullah Al-Rakib of Bangladesh Navy became champion.

Reigning European Champion Alexander Motylev and former European Champion Vladimir Potkin (2011) are appointed as coaches for the Russian men’s national team, RCF CEO Mark Glukhovsky confirmed for R-Sport.

Motylev will be acting captain but the two experts will be equal in decision-making process.
