Kamsky, Barbosa and Erenburg share first in Washington Chess Congress

The Washington Chess Congress was held from October 8-13, 2014, at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City, 2799 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, Virginia.

The event had 4 sections: Premier, Under 2100, Under 1700 and Under 1300. The tournament format was 7-round Swiss with the time control 40/110, SD/30, d10.

The total prize fund was around $23,000, significantly down from the expected $40,000.

The 23rd Croatian Team Chess Championships for Men and Women were organized by the Croatian Chess Federation on 3-13th October 2014 at the Bluesun Hotel Elaphusa in Bol on island Brac in Croatia.

23rd Midwest Class Championships

The 23rd Annual Midwest Class Championships were held from October 10-12, 2014, at the Westin Chicago North Shore Hotel, 601 North Milwaukee Avenue, Wheeling, Illinois.

The event consisted of seven sections and the playing format was 5-round Swiss with the time control 40/110, SD/30, d10. The total prize fund was $20,000.

The 9-round rapid chess tournament “Chess returns to Crna Trava” was held on 11th October in Crna Trava, Serbia.

The event was organized by SO Crna Trava, chess clubs Komren Niš and Radnički Ćuprija, and sponsored by Chessdom.com.

Larsen Memorial 2014 LIVE!

Nørresundby Chess Club and Aalborg Chess Association organize the International Senior Tournament in honor and respect of the memory of GM Bent Larsen (1935-2010) from 13th to 18th October in Aalborg, Denmark.

The event is a 7-round Swiss with a time control 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game plus 30 seconds increment starting from move 1.
