Pula Open 2014

The 28th International Open Tournament Pula 2014 is taking place on 7-14th June at the Hotel Park Plaza Histria in Pula, Croatia.

The 9-round Swiss event is organized by the Chess Club Pula and Croatian Chess Federation. The total prize fund is 8750 EUR.

At the present, 185 players from 17 countries are registered to take part in the event. Among them are 8 Grandmasters and 13 International Masters.

Vladimir Putin welcomed the young participants in the “White Rook Tournament”

The Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed the participants in the traditional children’s tournament “White rook”. The opening ceremony took place on 2nd June, 2014 at OK “Dagomys”, in Sochi.

The team championship is a 9 round Swiss event with a time control 1 hour per player plus 10 seconds per move starting from move 1.

Nigeria selected players for Chess Olympiad in Tromso

Nigeria flagFollowing the qualification process, the Nigeria Chess Federation has announced the players which will represent the country at the 41st Chess Olympiad in Tromso, Norway.

Whitsun Grandmasters 2014 LIVE!

The Whitsun Grandmasters 2014 is taking place from 3rd to 7th June, 2014 in Copenhagen, the capital and most populated city in Denmark.

The 10-player round robin consists of 3 GMs, 5 IMs and 2 FMs. The time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 15 minutes for the rest of the game plus 30 seconds increment starting from move 1.

A GM norm will require 6,5/9 points, while an IM norm – 4,5/9 points. The winners will be awarded 400 €, 250 €, 150 €, respectively.

Whitsun IM Tournament 2014 LIVE!

The Whitsun IM Tournament 2014 is taking place from 3rd to 7th June, 2014 in Copenhagen, the capital and most populated city in Denmark.

The event is a 10-player round robin with a time control 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 15 minutes for the rest of the game plus 30 seconds increment starting from move 1.

An IM norm will require 6,5/9 points, while the winners will be awarded 300 €, 200 €, 100 €, respectively.

Top seed is Bulgarian IM Nikolay Milchev.

Issue 1 of Chess Insider Norway Chess published

Issue 1 of Chess Insider Norway Chess magazine has been published. The subscribers already have the pdf and pgn files in their mailbox.

One more titled player besides GM Chatalbashev has joined the commentators team. This is the young talent IM Yanev, making 12 the total number of titled players that have commented for the Chess Insider daily magazine.

Silver Lake Chess Festival 2014

Branicevo Chess Union, municipality Veliko Gradiste, chess club VGSK and chess club Nestor are organizing the Chess Festival “Srebrno Jezero 2014″ on 21-29th June at the Restaurant Sidro on Srebrno Jezero (Silver Lake), Serbia.

The Festival consists of Open A (for players rated above 2200), Open B (U2200), Open C (U1700) and Chess Camp with free lessons for players and guests.

Open A and Open B will be completed over 9 rounds of Swiss system and rated with FIDE. The total prize fund is 2200 EUR.
