The 13th Asian Continental Individual Open and Women’s Chess Championships are going to take place 16th to 26th April 2014 in Sharjah , United Arab Emirates. 100+ titled players will compete for 66000 USD.

The top five from the 2014 Asian Open Championship qualify for the 2015 World Cup. The 2014 Asian Women’s champion qualifies for the 2015 Women’s World Championship.

Round 1 is April 16th at 14:00 CET

The 9th International Bad Ragazer Oster-Open is set to take place on 17-20th April at the Saal des Mehrzweckgebäudes in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland.

Currently 108 players are registered to take part in the 7-round Swiss event. Top prizes are CHF 1000, 700, 500, 400, 300.

Next month, the top chess players in the country will meet in Saint Louis to compete for the tile of U.S. Champion and U.S. Women’s Champion.

The fields are set for both the 2014 U.S. Championship and 2014 U.S. Women’s Championship, scheduled to be held simultaneously May 7 through May 20 at the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis (CCSCSL).

Ashritha Eswaran, 13, received the final wildcard invitation to the U.S. Women’s Championship to round out the fields.

Metropolitan Chess has just released its first book title: Modernized: The King’s Indian Defense by GM Dejan Bojkov.

This book is a full repertoire (from Black’s perspective) for the King’s Indian Defense. By using a variety of theoretical games from recent Grandmaster practice (as well as a number of classical examples), Bojkov covers every major line in depth, with due coverage to all sidelines as well. World Champion Magnus Carlsen is currently in Oman where he prepares for the next tournament – Gashimov Memorial in Shamkir, Azerbaijan.

The 3rd Annual Larry Evans Memorial Open, formerly the Far West Open, will take place on 18-20th April at the Sands Regency Hotel/Casino in Reno, Nevada.

The 7th edition of the Pedro Lezcano Montalvo Memorial will be organized by the Chess Federation of Gran Canaria on 14-20th April 2014 at the Avenida de Canarias Hotel, Ateneo Municipal de Vecindario. C/ Colón s/n (Vecindario).

The tournament will be a 9-round Swiss Open. The top prizes will be 600, 500, 350 Euros, etc.

121 players from 13 federations are registered to take part in the event. Among them are 5 Grandmasters and 4 International Masters.
