Oman chess community was delighted to hear that the FIDE Presidential Board held in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, accepted the Oman Chess Committee (OCC) as its new member federation.

The 8th Serbian Chess Championship is taking place from 7-17th April at Hotel Patria in Subotica.

The 16th Dubai Open Chess Championship for the Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Al Maktoum Cup is taking place on 7-17th April at the Dubai Chess & Culture Club, United Arab Emirates.

The tournament format is 9 round Swiss and the total prize fund is $50,000, with $10,000 reserved for the winner.

150 players from 40 federations are competing, including 47 Grandmasters. Last year winner GM Aleksandr Rakhmanov is back to defend the title.

The Russian Team Chess Championships for Men and Women are going to take place in Loo, Russia, from 7th to 14th of April, 2014. More than 150 titled players will participate in one of the strongest team events of the year.
