San Sebastian Chess 2014 LIVE!

The 37th San Sebastian International Open is taking place on 12-19th April, 2014, at the Gros Xake Taldea. Anoeta passeig, 20. Donostia-San Sebastián (Frontón Karmelo Balda), Spain.

164 players are competing in the 9-round Swiss tournament. Top prizes are 1400 € / 900 € / 700 € / 500 € / 400 € / 350 €.

Arkadij Naiditsch wins 4th Ferdynand Dziedzic International Chess Memorial

The 4th Ferdynand Dziedzic International Chess Memorial was held on 13th April, 2014, at Żeromskiego St. 28 (sports hall) in Trzcianka, Poland.

The tournament is organized to commemorate Ferdynand Dziedzic, teacher, chess player, successful trainer, chess arbiter and creator of chess groups in Trzcianka.

The tournament was played over 9 rounds of Swiss system with a time control of 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment.

Ognjen Cvitan claims Golden Island Krk Open 2014

CvitanCroatian Grandmaster Ognjen Cvitan preserved the lead from the penultimate round and won the 2nd International Chess Tournament Golden Island Krk 2014 with 8/9 points.

Komodo leads Stage 3 of TCEC – Season 6, Stockfish still undefeated

tcec_s06_poster_01The third Stage of TCEC – Season 6 is in progress. The format is a quad round robin each engine will play both sides of the same opening against each other, twice. The top 4 will move on to Stage 4 while the rest are out of TCEC for the current season.

Bangkok Open LIVE!

The 14th Bangkok Chess Club Open 2014 will take place from 12th to 19th of April 2014 at the 5-star Dusit Thani Bangkok Hotel. The event is organized by the Bangkok Chess Club.

There are two groups of play: Open category for all players, and Challenger category for players rated below 2100 or unrated (ratings based on FIDE ratings – national ratings will be validated by the organizer).

Both groups will be played using the Swiss System, with 9 rounds for Open, and 7 rounds for Challenger.

Torneo Internacional de Ajedrez de La Roda 2014

The 41st Torneo Internacional de Ajedrez de La Roda 2014 is set to take place on 16-20th April at La Caja Blanca in La Roda, Albacete, Spain.

The 9-round Swiss open is organized by the Club Polideportivo de La Roda and managed by the tournament director Andres Martinez Cebrian.

The prize fund of 11,000 EUR will be divided into 30 prizes. The winner takes 2,000 EUR home.

Hou Yifan concedes first draw in Khanty-Mansiysk FIDE Grand Prix

The first player in the Khanty-Mansiysk FIDE Grand Prix to have thrown sand into Hou Yifan’s wheels was the Ukrainian GM, Lagno, who successfully held the Chinese to a draw.

In the second position, just half a point behind the leader, advanced the Slovenian GM Muzychuk, who is now the proud holder of three points, after defeating Muminova.

Batchimeg Tuvshintugs: “Defeating Yifan Hou was one of the happiest moments”

Batchimeg Tuvshintugs of Mongolia is playing in her 3rd event of the FIDE Grand Prix series. She is number 10 on the rating list for men and number 2 for women in Mongolia.

Batchimeg took in 2006 1st place in the Susan Polgar World Open Championship, 5th place in the 16th Asian Games from Guangzhou (2010) and the gold medal with her team in the 11th World University Championship (Zurich, 2010). Jamie Kenmure had a small chat with this talent and beautiful lady from Mongolia.
