Commonwealth Championships & 121st Scottish Championships

The 2014 Commonwealth Championships and 121st Scottish Championships will be held in Glasgow from 30 June to 8 July 2014.

The playing venue is Glasgow City College, 320 Cathedral Street, Glasgow G1 2TG.

The main event is the Commonwealth Championship which incorporates a number of other events including the Commonwealth Women’s Championship, the Scottish Championship and Senior Championships.

Tromso 2014 announces Travel Fund

On behalf of the Organizer of the 2014 Chess Olympiad in Tromsø, it is a pleasure to announce that a travel fund of up to € 600.000 will be made available to federations who wants to participate in the Olympiad.

The aim of the travel fund is to help those federations who are in need of financial support in order to send teams to Tromsø.

Georgian Women Chess Championship 2014 LIVE!

One of the strongest national women chess championships, the Georgian Women Chess Championship 2014, is going to take place 17.02 – 01.03. 2014 in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The event will be an 11 rounds round robin, with the participation of 1 GM, 5 IM, 2 WGM, 1 WIM, 1 WFM, and a total of 12 players for average rating of 2303 ELO. Top seeded is GM Bela Khotenashvili with 2527 ELO.

Graz Chess Tournament 2014 LIVE!

The 1st International Chess Open Casino Graz 2014 is set to take place from 14th to 21st February at the Casino Graz and Joanneum Quarter in Graz, Austria. The tournament will be held in two groups: Open A for all players and Open B for players rated under 2000. Both groups will be played over 9 rounds of Swiss system.

The social events include Get Together reception, City Tour and Player’s Night.

Vladimir Kramnik confirmed for Norway Chess 2014

Norway Chess 2014We are pleased to announce that the former World Chess Champion, Vladimir Kramnik, has now confirmed that he’s going to play in Norway Chess Tournament in June.

Batavia Chess Tournament 2014

The 6th Batavia Chess Tournament takes place from Friday, February 21th to Sunday, March 2nd, 2014 in Café Batavia 1920, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

The games will start each day at 14:00 hrs. The final round starts at 12.00 hrs. Wednesday, February 26th is a rest day.

Cafe Batavia welcomes spectators and International Master Yochanan Afek hosts a special afternoon program in Cafe Batavia.

Sagaalgan Chess Festival 2014

The 12th Sagaalgan Chess Festival 2014 will take place from 28th February to 2nd March at the Buddhist University “Dashi Choynhorlin” in Ivolga Datsan, near Ulan-Ude in the Russian Republic of Buryatia.

The tournament is organized by the Russian Chess Federation, Buddhist University “Dashi Choynhorlin”, Republic of Buryatia and the Chess Federation of Buryatia.
