The defending champion Viswanathan Anand once again allowed the Berlin Ruy Lopez, despite achieving little against this system in earlier games in the match.

WGM Sopiko Guramishvili and WIM Ljilja Drljevic participated in the Women Grandmaster Tournament in Chennai, and now are playing the Chennai Open 2013. They shared their opinion on the Anand – Carlsen match during round 5.

World No.1 Magnus Carlsen of Norway snatched a crucial lead after world champion Viswanathan Anand made a single mistake on move 45 to lose on move 58. Carlsen has taken a 3-2 lead after five games in the FIDE World Chess Championship Match that is taking place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Chennai.

Norway room applauded the victory with clapping of hands and shouting when Anand resigned. “It feels good to break the deadlock and take the lead,” said Carlsen.

FIDE is publishing the list of titles approved by the 4th quarter Presidential Board 2013 meeting held in Chennai, India on 8-9 November 2013.

The 23rd FIDE Senior Chess Championship for men and women is taking place in Opatija, Croatia from 11th to 24th November 2013. The main organizer is the Chess Club of Rijeka.

On November 10th Kirsan Ilyumzhinov arrived to Tunisia. In the airport of Monastir he was welcomed by the President of Tunisian CF Mr. Yousri Daly.
