After 19-year-old Hans Niemann defeated Magnus Carlsen in the third round of the Sinquefield Cup 2022, World Champion Magnus Carlsen withdrew from the 2022 tournament.

The World Youth Chess Championships U14, U16, and U18 are taking place from September 05-17, 2022 in Mamaia, Romania. The 11-round Swiss System tournaments, organized by International Chess Federation and Romanian Chess Federation together with Chess Club Universul and Chess Club Juniorul Constanta, are being held in Constanta Exhibition Centre.

The 2nd International Chess Tournament for the prizes of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan is going to take place in Tashkent 6th September – 14th September 2022.
