The event is played in 3 round-robin sets with 28 games: 7 Classical games, 7 Rapid games (reversed colours), and 14 Blitz games (double round-robin). The 2022 Canadian Open Chess Championship will take place from 11 – 17 July at the Hillfield Strathallan College, Hamilton, Ontario. The event will be played in 9 rounds, swiss system, with nearly 250 players fighting for the total prize fund of 26.000$.

The Winner of the Championship will pocket a money-prize of 8.000$. The time control of the event is: 40 moves in 90 minutes + 30 minutes for remainder of game with 30 second Fischer increment from move one

The 2022 New York GM/IM Summer Invitational took place from 7-11 July at Hilton Garden Inn Midtown Park Ave, New York, featuring four 10-player round-robin tournaments for grandmasters and international masters norms.

GM Kamil Dragun won the Grandmaster A tournament with 6.5/9 points. Dragun was the sole winner of the event half a point ahead of GM Durabek Khamrakulov who claimed silver with 6 points. GM Ante Saric was bronze with 5.5 points.

European Youth Team Chess Championships 2022 take place from 12 July to 18 July in the Conference Hall of the 5 stars Lazart Hotel in Thessaloniki, which will host also the European Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship 2022 from 19 July to 23 July 2022.
