The final day of the 2022 U.S. Senior, U.S. Junior, & U.S. Girls’ Junior Championships was one of the most thrilling finishes at a National Championship and one to be remembered for years, with all the titles being up for grabs until the final round, the day was certainly an emotional rollercoaster.

35th Schwarzacher Chess Open 2022 starts in Austria

The 35th edition of the Schwarzacher Chess Open 2022 starts today at the Ceremony hall of the community of Schwarzacher in Austria. The event takes place from 16 – 24 July and features three tournaments: Open A (open to all players), Open B (for players rated U2100) and Open C (for players rated U1700). The tournaments will be played in 9 rounds, swiss system, with the total prize fund of nearly 12.000 euros.

GM Vasilios Kotronias wins the 45th Ikaros Chess Tournament 2022

The 45th edition of the Ikaros International Chess Tournament took place from 9-17 July at the Greek island in the Aegean Sea – Ikaria. The event was played in 9 rounds, swiss system, with a total prize fund of 3.300 euros.

GM Simen Adgestein wins his 8th Norwegian Chess Champion title

The 2022 Norwegian Chess Championships took place from 8-16 July 2022 in Kongsvinger, Norway. The event gathered around 300 players and it was played in 16 groups: Elite, Masters, Candidates, Group 1, Group 2, Group 3, Grop 4, Seniors 50+, Seniors 65+, and different Juniors and Cadet groups.

Gukesh D is third youngest player ever to cross 2700

16-year-old Indian chess prodigy Dommaraju Gukesh is the youngest Indian chess player who became Grandmaster at the age of 12 years, 7 months and 17 days, and he is the youngest Indian to break into World Top 100. Today, Gukesh broke another record as he became the youngest Indian chess player to cross 2700.

Praggnanandhaa triumphs at the 15th International Chess Open Paracin

The 15th edition of the International Chess Festival Paracin 2022 took place from 8 – 16 July at the Pool Prestige Hotel in Paracin. The festival featured two classical open events: A (for players rated 2100+) and B (for players rated U2100), 18th Memorial Chess Rapid Tournament “Uros Dinic” (July 10th) and Open Blitz Tournament (July 15th).
