Backstage of the FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022

The final preparations for the live broadcast of the most anticipated tournament of 2022 – the FIDE Candidates Chess are being done in Madrid.

Everything is ready for the start of the most anticipated tournament of 2022 – the FIDE Candidates Chess. The Opening Press Conference announced the start of the competition which will be officially opened tonight at 19:00 CET.

European Corporate Chess Championship 2022 starts in Rotterdam

The 2022 European Corporate Chess Championship takes place over the weekend 18-19 June in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

The tournament is played on a luxury cruise ship of Royal Spido (named James Cook), while sailing in the Rotterdam harbour. 17 teams will participate in the event which will be played in 9 rounds, Swiss system, with time control: 15 minutes for the whole game, plus 5 seconds of an increment starting from the move one.

Fan Zone at FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022

The tickets for the FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 are sold, and many fans were not able to fulfill their dream of visiting the tournament. Therefore it was decided to open the Fan Zone space at the ARGO Club (Asociacion Racional de Gastronomia y Ocia), offering an entire floor for chess fans who will be able to follow broadcasts of the games live, analyze and play chess.

Caruana: Firouzja’s World No 2 position was a little bit of momentum

The Opening Press Conference of the FIDE Candidates Tournament 2022 took place today in the venue of the event with presence of Deputy Minister of Sports for the regional government at Comunidad de Madrid Alberto Tome Gonzalez, FIDE Managing Director Dana Reizniece-Ozola and GM Fabiano Caruana.

German grandmaster Alexander Donchenko scored incredible 7/7 points playing the first table for Vandoeuvre-Echecs team at the French Top 16 Team Championship. The team finished in 4th place after the pool stage of the event, but attracted lots of attention thanks to the Board 1 team’s leader.

GM Shant Sargsyan is the Winner of 13th Karen Asrian Memorial

Young chess players dominated the 13th edition of the Karen Asrian Memorial which took place from 6th-16th June in Yerevan. 20-year-old Armenian grandmaster Shant Sargsyan won the event, scoring unbeaten 7.5/9 points for the sole first place.

34th International Open Tournament Pula 2022

The 34th edition of the International Chess Tournament “Open Pula 2022” will take place from 18-26 June at Park Plaza Histria Hotel in Pula, Croatia. Almost 200 players from 28 countries registered for the event which will be played in 9 rounds, swiss system, featuring the prize fund of 6.250 euros with 1.000 euros reserved for the Winner of the event.

GM Nino Batsiashvili wins 79th Georgian Women’s Chess Championship

The 79th edition of Georgian Women’s National Chess Championship took place from 6-15 June in the Georgian Chess Palace in Tbilisi. The event was played as a 10-player round robin tournament, gathering one Grandmaster, five International Masters, one Woman International Master, and two Woman FIDE Masters.
