Chess is booming in Madrid #TweetOftheDay

The FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 broke interesting records even before it started and now we can see chess is booming in Madrid. Isabel Garcia de la Cruz @IsaGeller shared photos of people waiting in line to see their chess idols. “Madrid is already breathing chess” explained the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer of FIDE David Llada seeing chess legends walking down Madrid’s streets.

The First Lady of Panama visits FIDE World School Chess Championships

The FIDE World School Chess Championship 2022 takes place from June 10-19, 2022, at the Wyndham Panama Albrook Mall Hotel & Convention Center, Panama City, under the auspices of FIDE and the Panama Chess Federation. The First Lady of Panama Yazmin de Cortizo paid a visit to the event which gathered around 600 children from more than 30 countries.

Women in Chess – Global Exchange Forum

The second Global Exchange Forum, organized by FIDE Commission for Women’s Chess and Chess24, took place on June 18th, focusing on the topic “How is harassment defined, guidelines and support to report cases”. Kristine Marie Ganz, Secretary-General from the Norwegian Chess Federation hosted the event and Marco Biagioli, a lawyer and FIDE legal expert, was the guest speaker.

The first-ever Chess Olympiad Torch Relay took place today in Chennai at Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi.
