Chess in Education Portal by ECU EDU Commission launched

The new Chess in Education portal by the ECU EDU Commission is released. The portal is a guide to creating chess projects – from the inception of the idea, through the funding, to the final execution of the project. European Schools Chess Championship 2022 with 190 players

The European School Chess Championship 2022 takes place from 20th-30th April in Rhodes, Greece. The event kicks off on Thursday, 21st of April, with the Opening ceremony which will be held shortly before the start of the first round. More than 190 players from more than 22 European federations registered for the event which will be played in 6 age categories: U7, U9, U11, U13, U15 and U17, open and girls sections separately.

Capablanca Memorial 2022 is taking place 19-28 April in La Habana, Cuba. This year the event features strong round robins for men and women as well as an open event. In the men round robin, aka Grupo Elite, the ten players are GM Sandro Mareco, GM Hans Niemann, GM Surya Ganguly, GM Mustafa Yilmaz, GM Vasif Durarbayli, GM Yasser Quesada Pérez, GM Carlos D.

Arjun Erigaisi is top seeded in Menorca

Arjun Erigaisi, who recently won Delhi Chess 2022 and won the MPL Indian Chess Tour first leg, is the top seeded player in Menorca Open 2022. The tournament is going to take place 20-24 April and is going to feature impressive Indian participation – GM Nihal Sarin, GM Gukesh, GM Adhiban, GM Raunak Sadhwani, GM Aryan Chopra, WGM Nandhidhaa are also in the list.

GM Jules Moussard is the winner of Torrevieja 2022

GM Jules Moussard is the winner of the 2022 edition of Open Internacional de ajedrez Semana Santa en Torrevieja. The French Grandmaster collected 8,0/9, half a point ahead of GM Karen Grigoryan and GM Eduardo Iturrizaga. A total of 450 participants entered the event, one of the largest chess opens in recent times.

Stockfish takes dominating lead at halfway in the TCEC Season 22 Superfinal

We have just reached the halfway mark of the TCEC Season 22 Superfinal. Defending champion Stockfish leads Komodo Dragon by 12 points (+17 -5 =28), a dominant performance that all but ensures that it will win the Superfinal. Stockfish signaled its intent straight from the get-go by winning the first opening with its signature move g4!, and reeled off two more opening wins before Komodo Dragon won its first game in game 9.

Oslo Esports Chess Cup, the first Meltwater Major announced
