The 2018 British Chess Championship is an 9-round Swiss tournament taking place at Hull City Hall, Hull, England from 28 July to 5 August. In case of a tie for first a rapid and blitz playoff will take place.

The 2018 Asian Nations Cup is a team event for Asian chess federations taking place in Hamedan, Iran from 28 July to 3 August.

The Superfinals of 71st Russian men’s championship and 68th Russian women’s championship will take place from 24th August till 6th September 2018 in Satka, Chelyabinsk Oblast.

The Condigne Dutch Open is a 9-round Swiss open tournament taking place from 24 July – 2 August 2018 in Dieren, Netherlands. The first prize is €3,000.

The Sueca Open is an 8-round Swiss tournament taking place from 23-29 July 2018 in Sueca, Spain. Players receive 90 minutes for the entire game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.

The RGCC Open is a 9-round Swiss tournament taking place from 23-29 July 2018 at the Real Grupo de Cultura Covadonga in Gijón, Spain. Players receive 90 minutes for the entire game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.
