12th Chess Festival “Silver Lake” was held in Silver Lake (VelikoGradiste) from June 17th, 2018 to June 24th, 2018. The Festival consists of three events: A tournament, B tournament and C tournament. The venue was hotel “Danubia Park”.

12 Corporate VIPs will be invited and will be paired with one of the 10 GCT players + GM Gary Kasparov + 1 additional French GM (Etienne Bacrot?). Each team will consist of two players who will alternate moves as in a normal pro-biz.

The Dunajska Streda GM is a 10-player round-robin tournament taking place from 23-30 June 2018 in Dunajská Streda, Slovakia. Players receive 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.

Hikaru Nakamura showed off his nerves of steel today and emerged as the winner of the 2018 Paris Grand Chess Tour. The American is no stranger to the winner’s circle as he has previously won the 2016 edition a full point ahead of Magnus Carlsen. He earned $37,500 and 13 tour points for his efforts.

The Minsk Amateur is a 9-round Swiss tournament.

The Marmaris Karya IM is a 10-round Scheveninegn tournament taking place from 25-29 June 2018 in Marmaris, Turkey. Players receive 90 minutes for the entire game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.

It is confirmed that Zambia, the previous African stronghold of Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and Lewis Ncube, is now supporting Georgios Makropoulos and “FIDE Forward”!

The new Vice-President in the ticket of Makropoulos is the Health Minister of Zambia Dr. Chitalu Chilufya and his brother Mr. Mukubulo Chilufya is the President of the Zambian Chess Federation.

Wesley So won the rapid portion of Paris Grand Chess Tour after drawing all his games today. However, unlike in Leuven where he had a three-point lead over the field going into the blitz, he only has a one-point lead now, thus putting himself in a more vulnerable position.

European Amateur Chess Championship 2018 was held from 13-21 June in Niksic, Montenegro.
