The 7th international Llucmajor is a 9-round Swiss open taking place from 13-20 May, 2018 in Llucmajor, Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Players receive 90 minutes for the entire game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.

The 2018 Romanian Championship is a 9-round Swiss tournament taking place from 14-22 May in Băile Olănești. Players receive 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.

The Brazil Open – Three Borders is a 9-round Swiss tournament taking place from 16-20 May 2018 in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil. The venue is hotel Da AVM .

8th International Chess Tournament „Bosna 2018“ was held from 5 to 11 May at hotel „SARAJ“, Sarajevo.
135 players took part in the tournament.

African Individual Chess Championships will be held in Lusaka, Zambia from 12 to 22 May.
Organizers are the African Chess Confederation and the Chess Federation of Zambia. The venue is Warm Harbor Hotel.
