Japan Chess National Championship was held from 29 April to 5 May in Tokyo.
45 players took part in the event.

The 32nd International Open Tournament Pula 2018 will take place 23-30th June at the Hotel Park Plaza Histria in Pula, Croatia.

The 9-round Swiss event is organized by the Chess Club Pula and Croatian Chess Federation. The total prize fund is 5340 EUR.

At the present 109 players from 16 countries are registered to take part in the event. Among them are 4 Grandmasters and 6 International Masters.

Rate of Play: 90 minutes per 40 moves, plus 30 minutes till end of game,with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from move one.

The Bamberg Open (Prof. Dr. Robert Pfleger Memorial) is a 7-round Swiss tournament taking place from 6-13 May 2018 in Bamberg, Germany. Players receive 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 15 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.

The 53rd edition of the Capablanca Memorial is taking place from May 9-19 in the Habana Libre Hotel in Havana, Cuba. The elite group of 6 players honouring the Cuban Chess World Champion José Raúl Capablanca in a double round-robin with new US Champion Sam Shankland the top seed.

Vietnam Individual Champioships 2018 were held from 27 April to 3. May in Ho Chi Minh .
Grandmaster Tran Tuan Minh, who scored 7 of 9, won the men’s championship . The same number of points ranked second place by Tran Quoc Dung. On the third place is Dao Thien Hai, who was behind by half a point.

Women’s World Championship Match 2018 between the Women`s World Champion Tan Zhongyi and the winner of FIDE Grand Prix Series Ju Wenjun will be organized from 2nd to 9th of May in Shanghai and the latter half from 11th to 20th May in Chongqing.
