The Heraklion IT Grand Prix takes place annually since 2011 and comprises of 3 tournaments, in January, April and September of each year, in Heraklion, Crete, Greece. The 23rd Heraklion Open is the second event of the 8th Grand Prix and takes place from April 9-15, 2018, at the Galaxy Hotel.

Welsh Championship was held from 30 March to 2 april. Venue was Radisson Park Inn Hotel, Cardiff.
25 players took part in the tournament.
The winner is David Jameson with 5 points out of 7 and best tie-break. Second is FM P. Sven Zeidler and third is Gerry Heap also with 5 points.

O2C Doeberl Cup was held from 29 March to 2 April at the Canberra Southern Cross Club Woden.
In the Premier section 68 players took part.
After 9 rounds two players have finished with 7,5 points. The winner is GM Timur Gareyev, with better tie-break from IM James Morris.
Third is IM Igor Bjelobrk with 7 points.

The 45th La Roda Open was held from 28 March to 1 April 2018 in La Roda, Spain.
257 players took part in the tournament.

The winner is GM Manuel Candelario Perez with 8 points out of 9.
GM Daniel Esteban Forcen is second with 7.5 points and GM Carlos Jose Jerez Ibarra is third with 7 points.

The 41st Open Internacional Ciudad de San Sebastián was held between March 24 and 31.
112 players took part in the tournament.

The 11th Pedro Lezcano Montalvo Memorial took place from 24-31 March in Gran Canaria.
103 players took part in the tournament.

Karpos chess open was held from 24.03.2018 till 31.03 in Skopie.
165 players took part in the tournament.

2018 European Championship was held from 17 to 28 March in Batumi.
8 players had 7,5 points out of 10 before the last round. 3 of the games have finished draw.
Croatian GM Ivan Saric defeated David Navara in the last round and won the title with 8,5 points out of 11.
