Kragerø Resort Chess 2018 live

norway flagKragerø Resort Chess is a 9-round Swiss open restricted to players with a rating equal or above 2000 taking place from 21-25 February in Kragerø, Norway. Players receive 90 minutes for the entire game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.

Aeroflot Open 2018 begins in Moscow

The International chess festival Aeroflot Open, traditionally supported by PJSC Aeroflot – Russian Airlines, was officially opened in the Kosmos Hotel, Moscow, on February 19.

The opening ceremony was led by the RCF Executive Director Mark Glukhovsky, the Executive Director of the festival Alexander Bakh, and the Chief Arbiter of the event IA Andrzej Filipowicz.

The 9th Southwest Class Championships were held from February 15-19, 2018, at the DFW Airport Marriott South, 4151 Centreport Blvd., Fort Worth, Texas, USA.

The event featured seven rating sections, including the 9-round Swiss Master which was FIDE rated and eligible for title norms.

FM Daniel Dardha is the winner in Vardaris 2018

4th International Open ‘Vardaris’ was held from 15 to 19 February in Thessaloniki.
The tournament was divided in 4 groups.
The winner was the young 13 years old Belgian FM Daniel Dardha with 6 out of 7, followed by IM Martin Petrov with 5,5 and FM Arben Dardha with 5 points.
Martin Petrov was leading the whole tournament, while the winner started with a loss but then he won 6 games on a row.

11th Mikhail Tal Memorial

The 11th edition of Mikhail Tal Memorial will take place from 1-5th March in the Museum of Russian Impressionism in Moscow.

Vladimir Kramnik, Alexander Grischuk, Peter Svidler, Sergey Karjakin, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Daniil Dubov (all from Russia), Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (Azerbaijan), Hikaru Nakamura (USA), Viswanathan Anand (India), and Boris Gelfand (Israel).

2018 U.S. and U.S. Women’s Chess Championships Fields Announced

Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis For the tenth consecutive year, the Saint Louis Chess Club will host the U.S. Chess Championship and U.S. Women’s Chess Championship. The fields have now been confirmed and fans are sure to see great battles April 17-30, 2018.
