Evgeny TomashevskyEvgeny Tomashevsky (28) from Russia will be the 14th grandmaster in the Tata Steel Masters, thus completing the top group of the Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2016.

8th Chennai Open International Grandmaster Chess Tournament

The 8th Chennai International Open Grandmaster Chess Tournament will take place from 18-25th January, 2015, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai, India.

The event is organised by Tamil Nadu State Chess Association, under the guidance of All India Chess Federation.

The tournament will be conducted as per FIDE Laws of Chess and FIDE Swiss System with 10 rounds. Time Control is 90 Minutes each with 30 seconds increment from move no.1.

Harika Dronavalli winner of the 1st FIDE World Online Women Blitz Championship!

The 1st FIDE World Online Women Blitz Championship Final took place in Rome on November 26th 2015.

The venue was the prestigious Circolo Canottieri Aniene in Rome, Italy, made available by its president, Giovanni Malago, who is also the president of the Italian Olympic Committee.

The event was the culmination of the massive qualification process in which more than 300 female players from 39 countries took part.

GM Rinat Jumabayev winner of 4th Central Asia Chess Cup (tie-break)

The 4th Central Asia Chess Cup of the FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov was held from 21-29th November at the Grand Hotel Tien Shan in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The tournament was organized by the Kazakhstan Chess Federation and FIDE.

Entitled to participate were chess players from the Central Asian countries – Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan.

Studentski Grad Blitz Championship

The popular chess club “Studentski Grad” held its annual blitz championship in the central library of the Studenski Grad campus in Belgrade, Serbia.

The club invited its current and former members and supporters. Three players participated through the online platforms from distant Australia, France and Surgut (Ugra) Russia.

After 11 rounds of the Swiss pairings FM Ivan Radivojevic won the tournament with the perfect score. Standings and photos below.

Myanmar International Open 2015 LIVE!

The 2015 Myanmar International Open is taking place from 22-28th November at the Central Hotel, Bogyoke Aung San Road, Yangon.

The event is a 9-round Swiss open tournament with first prize in the amount of US$ 3,000.

Top seed is Russian GM Dmitri Komarov (2517).
