President Vladimir Putin congratulated Russia’s national chess teams on their victory in the 2015 European Team Chess Championship in Iceland.

The message reads, in part:

The event is a 10 player single round-robin tournament with top seed IM Daniil Shkuran (2428).

The 11th Governor’s Cup Yugra is taking place from November 22 to December 2, 2015, in Khanty Mansiysk, Russia.

The event is a 9-round Swiss open tournament with prize fund of 1.210.000 RUB (nearly 22.000 €).

Top seed is Russian prodigy GM Vladislav Artemiev (2676).

Russia dominates European Team Chess Championships in Reykjavik

The national teams of Russia have completely dominated the 2015 European Team Chess Championships, winning the gold medals in both men’s and women’s tournaments.

In the final round of the men’s section Russia tied the match against Hungary to complete the race with 15 points and take the winner’s trophy. This is Russia’s first gold in ETCC since 2007.

GM Alexandr Fier clear first in 17th Open International Can Picafort

The 17th Open International Can Picafort was held from 15-22nd November at the hotel Ferrer Concord, in Can Picafort, Spain.

62 players from 13 countries took part in the event, with 8 Grandmasters and 18 International Masters in the field.

Top seed GM Alexandr Fier from Brazil took a clear first place with 7,0/9 points.

The total prize fund was 3500 EUR.

Boris Savchenko storms through PSC Puregold Open in Olongapo City

Russian Grandmaster Boris Savchenko demolished the opposition in the PSC Puregold International Open to emerge convincing winner with 9,5/10 points, two and a half points ahead of the nearest followers.

Kings Island Open 2015

The 24th Annual Kings Island Open was held from November 13-15, 2015, at the Embassy Suites Cincinnati Northeast, 4554 Lake Forest Drive, Blue Ash, Ohio.

The event had 7 sections: Open, Under 2100, Under 1900, Under 1700, Under 1500, Under 1250 and Under 1000. All sections were played over five rounds of Swiss system, with the time control 40/110, SD/30, d10.

FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar in Reykjavik, Iceland – Results

From 15 to 21 November 2015 a FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was organized in Reykjavik, Iceland, by the Icelandic Chess Federation, in cooperation with the FIDE Arbiters’ Commission and under auspices of FIDE. The Seminar was held parallel to the 2015 European Teams Chess Championships.

The venue of the Seminar was the Laugardalshöllin Indoor Hall, in Reykjavik.
