The Lower Saxony Championship C is taking place from 5–8 January 2023 in Verden. Players receive 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one. It is a 7-round Swiss tournament with participation of Philipp Golke, Lev Nechytailo, Dirk Bischop, Finja Carstens, Joachim Glaschak, Niclas Fahlbusch, Max Peter Schulze, Markus Janssen, Matthias Steven, Uwe Wegmann, etc.

The 32nd Keres Memorial is taking place from 7–8 January 2023 in Tallinn, Estonia. Players receive 15 minutes for the entire game, plus a 5-second increment starting from move one. It is an 11-round Swiss tournament with participation of Daniel Fridman, Yuriy Kuzubov, Tomi Nyback, Nikita Meshkovs, Paulius Pultinevicius, Vitaliy Bernadskiy, Sergey Grigoriants, Jaan Ehlvest, Kaido Kulaots, Aleksandr Volodin, Meelis Kanep, Vilka Sipila, etc.

82nd Georgian Championship 2023 – LIVE

The 82nd Georgian Championship is taking place from 4–13 January 2023 in Tbilisi, Georgia. Players receive 90 minutes for the entire game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one. It is a 10-player round-robin tournament with participation of Merab Gagunashvili, Mikheil Mchedlishvili, Nikolozi Kacharava, Luka Paichadze, Giga Quparadze, Tornike Sanikidze, Gaioz Nigalidze, Davit Maghalashvili, Noe Tutisani and Nikoloz Petriashvili.

Cape Town Masters Challenge IM 2023 – LIVE

The Cape Town Masters Challenge IM is taking place from 4–8 January 2023 in Cape Town, South Africa. Players receive 90 minutes for the entire game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one. It is an 10-player round-robin tournament with Adham Fawzy, Watu Kobese, Daniel Cawdery, Providence Oatlhotse, Andrew Kayonde, Mohamed Bhawoodien, Reuben Salimu, Daniel Barrish, Calvin John Klaasen and Jan Karsten.

5th Evoiki Open “Nikolaos Giamarellos” 2023 – LIVE

The 5th tournament in memoriam “Nikolaos Giamarellos” is organized by Evoiki Enosis Skakiston at Lucy Hotel in Chalkida, Greece, from 5-8 January. The total prize fund is 2500€. The event is a 7-round Swiss tournament in two rating groups, played with a time-control of 60′ for 40 moves followed by 15′ for the rest of the game, with a 30″ increment from move 1.

2nd International Open SKG “White Tower” 2023 – Group B – LIVE

The 2nd International Open SKG “White Tower” – Group B tournament takes place from 2-8 January at the Porto Palace hotel in Thessaloniki, Greece. The tournament is played in 3 rating groups, with a total prize fund of 3600€. The time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment from move 1.
