Bulgarian Ministry of Youth & Sport has given 7 days (from 1st August) to the Bulgarian Chess Federation to reimburse the unlawfully and inappropriately spent funds in the amount of BGN 2.097.461 (approx 1 million EUR) to the bank account of the Ministry.<

The 3rd edition of the annual Global Chess Festival (GCF) will be held on Saturday October 14th, 2017. On July 27, at 15.00, a press conference on Chess World Cup was held at the “Amphitheater” foyer of “The Biltmore Hotel Tbilisi”.

The Ukrainian Vasily Ivanchuk has been a world leader for thirty years and still regularly raises the crowd with his peculiar behavior and brilliant findings on the board.

The International Chess Women’s Open is taking place from 31 July to 4 August 2017 in Erfurt, Germany. Top players are IM Vijayalakshmi, WGM Majdan, WGM Hejazipour, WGM Doluhanova, WGM Rapport, WGM Berzina, WIM Khomeriki, WGM Strutinskaia, WIM Fuchs, WIM Olsarova, WIM Havlikova, etc.

The British Chess Championship 2017 is taking place in Llandudno, Wales, July 29 – August 6. It feature GM David Howell, GM Gawain Jones, GM Luke McShane, GM Gawain Jones, GM Jonathan Hawkins, GM Nicolas Pert, IM James Adair, GM Mark Hebden, GM John Emms, IM Yang-Fan Zhou, IM Ameet Ghasi, GM Daniel Gormally, IM Lawrence Trent, GM Simon Williams, etc.

The 10th International Paleochora Open was organized by Municipality of Kandanos-Selino, Chania Chess Academy and Prefecture of Crete from 19-26th July in Paleochora, Greece.

A total of 220 players from 27 countries, including 16 Grandmasters and 19 International Masters, competed in the 9-round Swiss event.
