Russian Team Chess Chamionship 2017 LIVE!

The Russian Team Chess Championship 2017 aka Premier League is going to take place 1-10 May, 2017, in Sochi, Russia. It will consist of eight teams. Top seeded are the team of Sibir with Vladimir Kramnik, Anish Giri, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Alexander Grischuk, Dmitry Andreikin, Anton Korobov, and Denis Khismatullin.

FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar in Kremenchuk, Ukraine

From 20 to 25 April 2017 a FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was organized in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region, Ukraine, by the Ukrainian Chess Federation, under auspices of FIDE.

The lecturer was IA Oleg Tovchyga (UKR), FIDE Lecturer and Assistant Lecturer was IA Yuriy Gnyp (UKR).

The lectures were in Russian language.

15 National Arbiters from Ukraine and Moldova participated in the Seminar.

FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar in Moscow, Russia

Official FIDE logoA FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar is going to be organized from 23 to 27 May 2017 in Moscow, Russia, by the Moscow Chess Federation, in cooperation with the Russian Chess Federation and under the auspices of FIDE.

World Senior Team Championships 2017

World Senior Team Championship 2017 Category 50+ and World Senior Team Championship 2017 Category 65+ are taking place from 24th April to 2nd May at the wonderful Creta Maris Resort in Hersonissos, Greece.

Entitled to participate in the category 50+ are players who were born in the year 1967 or earlier.
Entitled to participate in the category 65+ are players who were born in the year 1952 or earlier.

Both championships will be completed over 9 rounds of Swiss system and each section has 22 teams competing. The total prize fund is 10,000 EUR.

Nana Dzagnidze is 2017 European Women’s Champion

Georgian Grandmaster Nana Dzagnidze is the winner of the 18th European Individual Women’s Chess Championship, which was held from 11-22nd April at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Riga, Latvia.

In the final decisive round Dzagnidze drew with Russian Natalija Pogonina, and emerged clear winner with 8,5/11 points.

The 4th MindSports World Championships 2017 will be held from 19-27th August at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) in Doha, Qatar.

The competitions in Scrabble, Chess, Go and Esports will offer a record prize fund of 200,000 USD.

FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar in Koror, Palau

The Lecturer will be IA Jamie Kenmure (AUS), FIDE Lecturer.

Levon Aronian wins GRENKE Chess Classic 2017

Levon Aronian ist the winner of the GRENKE Chess Classic with one round to go. The Armenian grandmaster won in the sixth round against Hou Yifan.

Fabiano Caruana tried everything to win his game against Matthias Blübaum, to keep a minimal chance to tie with Aronian after seven rounds alive, but he only got a draw. The other games also ended in a draw.

Kortchnoi Open: Five players share 1st place, Eltaj emerges as winner

In the 2017 Kortchnoi Zurich Chess Challenge Master Open, five players shared 1st place after seven rounds: GM Eltaj Safarli, GM Alexander Motylev, GM Aleksandr Rakhmanov, GM Ferenc Berkes and GM Gadir Guseinov.
