GM Dragan Paunovic wins the tournament in Coimbra, Portugal

The International Open “Queima das Fitas” 2015 was held from 30th April to 3rd May at the Hotel D. Luis, in Coimbra, Portugal.

The 7-round Swiss event was organized by the Chess Section of the Academic Association of Coimbra, with the support of the Portuguese Chess Federation, of the Chess Association of Coimbra District and the Hotel D. Luís.

IM Alan Pichot claims 2015 Paraguay National Congress Blitz Tournament

Paraguay flagThe 2015 Paraguay National Congress Open Blitz Chess Tournament took place on 4th May, in Asuncion, the capital and largest city of Paraguay.

The event was a 7-round Swiss tournament with tempo of play 5′ + 3″ for the first three rounds and 10′ + 2″ for the last four rounds.

Kosovo & Metohija Chess Cup 2015

The Kosovo & Metohija Chess Union organized the regional Cup on 26th April at the Students Center in Kosovska Mitrovica. Five teams took participation in the event.

Chess Club “Trepca” from Kosovska Mitrovica won the Cup and qualified for the final stage of “Svetozar Gligoric Cup”, which will take place from 16-22nd May in Kraljevo.

Chess Club “Kosmet” from Leposavic was second, while Chess Club “Mita Staletovic” from Strpce finished on third place.

Obiettivo Risarcimento Padova and A.S.D. Circolo Scacchi R. Fischer Chieti are Italian Team Champions

The 47th Italian Team Chess Championship was held from 29th April to 3rd May in Civitanova Marche. 17 teams competed in the 7-round Swiss event.

Obiettivo Risarcimento Padova took the title ahead of WorldTradingLab Club 64 Modena. The two teams finished with 11 match points each, but Padova boasted better sum of individual points (20 vs 19).

European Chess Club Cup Skopje 2015

The 31st European Club Cup and the 20th European Club Cup for Women will take place in Skopje/FYR Macedonia, from 17th October (arrival and opening) to 25th October 2015 (departure). The official venue will be the 5* hotel Aleksandar Palace.

The championships will be held in 7 rounds, played in the Swiss system in accordance with the ECU Tournament Rules.

Selimir Manojlovic Memorial

Chess Federation of Central Serbia, Chess Club Krusik and City of Valjevo are organizing a round robin tournament in memory of former CFCS President Selimir Manojlovic.

The tournament will take place from 9-15th May at the Hotel Grand in Valjevo. The average elo of the participants is 2391.

Richmond Phiri and Boikhutso Mudongo win FIDE Zone 4.3 Chess Championships

The Chess Association of Malawi hosted the 2015 FIDE Zone 4.3 Individual Chess Championships from April 17th to 26th at Shire Highlands Hotel in the Central Business District (CBD) of Limbe (Blantyre) in Malawi.

The event was held under the auspices of the African Chess Confederation. 34 players of 7 countries participated in the Open and Women sections.

Kolkata Open 2015 on DD TV

India’s biggest television network Doordarshan will telecast four exclusive Highlights of the 2nd Kolkata International Grandmasters Chess Tournament on its DD Sports Channel from 5-8th May.

Filmed and Produced by Vijay Kumar the 30 minutes highlights of each episode will be telecast as under:
