European Senior Chess 2015 LIVE!

The 15th European Senior Chess Championships for Men and Women are held in Eretria, Greece, from 28th April untill 8th May, 2015. The official venue is the conference center of the 4-star “Eretria Village” Hotel, which is near the ancient city of Eretria.

The European Senior Chess Championship is played according to the Swiss System in 9 rounds, with the time control 40 moves in 90 minutes, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game+ 30 seconds increment per move, starting from move one.

Open Internacional da Queima das Fitas 2015

The International Open “Queima das Fitas” 2015 will take place from 30th April to 3rd May at the Hotel D. Luis, in Coimbra, Portugal.

The tournament is part of the National Circuit in Classical Chess 2014/2015.

The 7-round Swiss event is organized by the Chess Section of the Academic Association of Coimbra, with the support of the Portuguese Chess Federation, of the Chess Association of Coimbra District and the Hotel D. Luís.

China confirms domination, wins World Team Championship 2015

The national team of China continued its global domination by securing the gold medal at the FIDE World Team Chess Championship in Tsakhkadzor, having previously won the 2014 Chess Olympiad in Tromso.

Earlier, China had three silver medals from the World Team Championships in 2005, 2011 and 2013. In 2005 they were on the brink of winning the gold, before being overtaken by Russia in the dramatic last round.

Georgia takes gold in Women’s World Team Chess Championship

ChengduGeorgia concluded the 2015 FIDE Women’s World Team Chess Championship in style, by defeating the host country and three-times champion China.

Arthur Ssegwanyi wins FIDE Zone 4.2, qualifies for Baku World Cup

While the just ended FIDE Zone 4.2 Africa Chess Championship Open winner, IM elect Arthur Ssegwanyi was the biggest beneficiary from the event, there were many individual winners who attained titles, hefty cash prizes and others gained rating points and invaluable experience.

It was therefore not a case of winner takes it all at City Oil, Kira Road as the event climaxed on Saturday 25th April 2015.

Corina Peptan and Constantin Lupulescu are 2015 Romanian Chess Champions

The 2015 Romanian Chess Championships for men and women were held from 18-26th April in Calimanesti.

The men’s tournament had 32 participants, while the women’s section had 24 players. Both events were completed over nine rounds of Swiss system.

Marija Rakic is 2015 Serbian Women’s Champion

WIM Marija Rakic justified her ranking as the top seed to win the 2015 Serbian Women’s Championship, claiming her second national title after 2012.
