The 90th Hastings International Chess Congress took place from 29th December 2014 to 6th January 2015 in Hastings, England. The main event was the 9-round Hastings Masters with 106 participants.

Chinese Grandmaster Zhao Jun convincingly won the trophy and £2000 top prize by scoring 8,0/9 points and leaving the nearest followers a full point behind. Zhao Jun had a TPR of 2852 and earned 26 elo points.

The victory of Komodo at the Top Computer Chess Championship (TCEC) sent ripples of shock waves through the world of computer chess.

The United States Chess Federation (USCF) has confirmed March 31 – April 13 as the dates for the US Chess Championship 2015. The event is set to be held in Saint Louis and the format is to be announced in the following days.

German Grandmaster Arkadij Naiditsch continued to impress in the mini-Swiss tour as he won a second trophy, this time at the Basel Chess Festival.

The 12th International Chess Festival “Aeroflot Open 2015″ will be held in Moscow from 28 March (the date of arrival) to 08 April 2015 (the date of departure).

This major event is open to chess players of most varied qualification: from unrated to world’s top. As before, the festival is held “under the wings” of the Russian leading air company “Aeroflot – Russian airlines”.

The Stockholm Chess Federation organized the 44th Rilton Cup from 27th December 2014 to 5th January 2015 at the Clarion Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden.

The tournament was played in four groups: Rilton Cup, Rilton Elo, Rilton 1800 and Rilton 1600. All sections are FIDE rated.
