World Amateur Chess Championship 2015

FIDEThe World Amateur Chess Championships will be held in Porto Carras, Halkidiki, Greece on the northern coast of the Aegean Sea. The dates are 13 April (arrivals, technical meeting) to 22 April 2015 (departures).

Rilton Cup 2014

Rilton CupRilton Cup was initiated by a donation from Dr. Tore Rilton, and since 1985 the tournament is financially secured. The challenge prize, donated by SEB, is a Rilton-medal in genuine gold.

The venue of play is Clarion Hotel Stockholm, Ringvägen 98, Stockholm. Metro station Skanstull (green line).

FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar and Rapid Tournament in Lisbon, Portugal

LisbonThe Portuguese Chess Federation will be organizing two great chess events in December 2014.

FIDE Aribters’ Seminar will be held on 13-14th December 2014 in Inatel Oeiras, Avenida Marginal, 2780 - 267 Oeiras.

Memorial Rafael Fuentes Gonzalez in Las Palmas

Torneo Internacional Centro Goya Las Palmas de Gran Canaria 2014 – Memorial Rafael Fuentes Gonzalez is taking place from 1-8th December at the Club de Ajedrez de la Fundación La Caja de Canarias in Las Palmas, Spain.

The 9-round Swiss open is organized by the Federación Insular de Ajedrez de Gran Canaria and Club de Ajedrez Centro Goya.

78 players from 13 countries, including five Grandmasters, are taking part in the tournament. Full list below.

Qatar Masters Open – Round 5 Video

Top seed Anish Giri is the sole leader at the ongoing Qatar Masters Open Chess Championship with perfect score after five rounds of play. On Sunday evening he defeated the 3rd-seeded Shakhriyar Mamedyarov in only 21 moves.
