Jovana Vojinovic is new Serbian Women Champion

The 2014 Serbian Chess Championship for women was held from 27th March to 6th April in Banja Junaković, Apatin. Twelve players competed in the round robin tournament.

The 16th Dubai Open Chess Championship for the Sheikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Al Maktoum Cup is taking place on 7-17th April at the Dubai Chess & Culture Club, United Arab Emirates.

The tournament format is 9 round Swiss and the total prize fund is $50,000, with $10,000 reserved for the winner.

150 players from 40 federations are competing, including 47 Grandmasters. Last year winner GM Aleksandr Rakhmanov is back to defend the title.

russian teamThe Russian Team Chess Championships for Men and Women are going to take place in Loo, Russia, from 7th to 14th of April, 2014. More than 150 titled players will participate in one of the strongest team events of the year.

The Russian Team Chess Championship 2014 is going to take place 7-14 April. A total of 13 teams will play a 7 round Swiss event to determine the winner of one of the strongest team chess championships in the world.

Russian Team Chess Championship 2014 (women)

The Russian Women Team Chess Championship 2014 is going to take place 6-14 April. Four clubs – Chigorin SPB, Ladia Kazan, ShSM Moscow, and Ugra Khanty Mansiysk are going to play a round robin for the title.

Top players include GM Viktorija Cmilyte, GM Valentina Gunina, WGM Natalija Pogonina, IM Alisa Galliamova, IM Anastasia Bodnaruk, IM Ekaterina Atalik, IM Ekaterina Kovalevskaya, WGM Alina Kashlinskaya, etc.

The 2nd International chess tournament Golden Island Krk 2014 is organized by the Chess club “Draga” Rijeka and Chess club “Krk” on 6-12th April, 2014, at the Hotel Malin in Malinska, Island Krk, Croatia.

Tournament System: Swiss, FIDE variant, 9 rounds, 90 minutes + 30 sec increment for every move (from the beginning of the game)

Prizes: 1. 1100 EUR; 2. 700 EUR; 3. 400 EUR; 4. 300 EUR; 5. 200 EUR; 6. 100 EUR

The reigning TCEC champion Komodo leads after Stage 2 after thirteen rounds

Komodo (3131) leads the Stage 2 of Season 6 of the world’s strongest computer chess championship TCEC with 10,0/13. In the thirteenth round the reigning TCEC champion won against Junior (2931), and thus became a sole leader. Stockfish (3133) climbed to second position after winning against Chiron (2965). This was an important loss for Chiron, who greatly reduced his chances to qualify for the next stage, as only the top eight engines will move on to Stage 3.

7th NY International

The world famous Marshall Chess Club is organizing the 7th NY International on 18-22th June. The event will have three sections: FIDE Norm, U2200 and U1900.

FIDE Norm Section is open to all players rated 2200 or above (USCF or FIDE) and special invitees. The playing format is 9 rounds, Swiss System, 40/90, SD/30, 30 second increment.

The section prize fund is $12,500 unconditionally guaranteed: $5000-2500-1500-1000, U2500 FIDE $1000, U2400 $1000, U2300 $500, plus special brilliancy prize.
