Cebanenko Memorial LIVE!

The Veaceslav Cebanenco Memorial is scheduled to take place on 1-2nd April at the Republican Chess and Draughts Club, Sciusev street 111, in Chisinau, Moldova.

Blitz Tournament in Khanty-Mansiysk

The Ugra Chess Academy has organized a blitz tournament on 29th March as one of the side events taking place during the FIDE Candidates Tournament.

The 9-round Swiss with 80 participants was held at the beautiful Ugra Athletic Stadium.

The total prize fund was 2000 EUR, with 200 EUR reserved for the winner. There were also special prizes for women, veterans, U18 and U12 juniors.

Filipino GM Oliver Barbosa wins title in Kolkata Open

Grandmaster Oliver Barbosa of Philippines edged out MR Lalith Babu of PSPB on better tiebreak to win the 19th International Open GM Chess Tournament, organised by Alekhine Chess Club.

Both scored 7.5 points in ten rounds. Oliver also won a cash prize of four lakh rupees and Lalith Babu had to be content with the runner up spot and collected two lakh and seventy five thousand rupees for his splendid efforts.

Anand earned a rematch against World Champion Magnus Carlsen

Former World Champion Viswanathan Anand claimed a convincing victory in the FIDE World Candidates Tournament 2014 to challenge the reigning World Champion Magnus Carlsen to another match in November.

Anand made a draw against Sergey Karjakin in the 13th round of the tournament to secure a clear first place with a round to spare.
