Iran51st Iranian Men Chess Championship-Final will be held in Bushehr Chess House-Shoghab Park-Saheli St.-Bushehr.
It will be 12 players round-robin. Time control is 40moves in 90 min. then 30 min. till the end plus 30 sec. increments from move 1.

Candidates Chess 2018 LIVE!

The 2018 Candidates Chess Tournament will take place 10-28 March in Berlin. The prize fund will total €420,000, or an estimated $500,000 at the current exchange rate. In addition to €420,000, the prize will also include 10% of the pay-per-view revenues from the event. The winner will get a chance to fight for the World Championship title against Magnus Carlsen this November in London at the World Chess Championship 2018.

Ballet in honour of Paul Keres

A new ballet, created in honour of the chess grandmaster, Paul Keres, once the most famous Estonian in the world, will premiere in September at the Estonian National Opera.

Once upon a time, Paul Keres (1916-1975) was the most distinguished Estonian around the globe – his fame in the chess circles was comparable to the respect Arvo Pärt commands today in the classical music world. Keres was among the world’s top chess players from the mid-1930s to the mid-1960s.

RCF and Timchenko Foundation start bidding procedure for Russian Superfinals

The Russian Chess Federation and the Charitable Foundation of Elena and Gennady Timchenko invite regional chess federations to take part in the contest to hold the Russian Championship Superfinals 2018 in a local museum as part of the Chess in Museums program.

FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar in Tokyo, Japan

From 23 to 25 February 2018 a FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was organized in Tokyo, Japan, by the Japanese Chess Association, in cooperation with the Asian Chess Federation and under the auspices of FIDE.

The lecturer was IA Takis Nikolopoulos (GRE), FIDE Arbiters’ Commission Chairman and FIDE Lecturer and Assistant Lecturer was FA Jumiko Hiebert (JPN)

The lectures were in English language.

Twenty five (25) people from Japan and Macau participated in the Seminar.

Serbian Championship 2018

Novi SadThe 2018 Serbian Championship is a 10-player round-robin tournament taking place from 6-14 March in Novi Sad. Players receive 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.

Turkish Women’s Championship 2018

turkey-flagThe 2018 Arzum Turkish Women’s Championship is a 9-round Swiss tournament taking place in Antalya, Belek, Turkey from 5-10 March. Players receive 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.

The 11th edition of the International tournament dedicated to the memory of the 8th world chess champion Mikhail Tal was held in the Museum of the Russian Impressionism and in the Central Chess Club in Moscow on March 1-5. The super tournament was divided in two parts: rapid and blitz.
