Vidmar Memorial 2016 is taking place June 24 – July 3 in Bled. It is 10-player single round-robin dedicated to the memory of GM Milan Vidmar.

Komodo continues to lead the Top Chess Engine Championship – the strongest double round robin by ELO in history. After nine rounds “The Dragon” is sole leader with 7,0/9. Houdini is the closest competitor, while Andscacs and Jonny share third with 5,5/9.

The 2nd International Summer Chess Tournament of Moudania Chess Academy is going to take place 22-30 August 2016 in Halkidiki, Greece. It is a 9 rounds FIDE rated open event with rate of play 90 minutes for 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from move one.

Stage 2 of Top Chess Engine Championship (aka TCEC) – the strongest double round robin chess championship in history – is now past round 7. TCEC’s champion from last year has already built a full point ahead of it’s closest competitor Houdini and 1,5 points ahead of the highest rated opponents Stockfish, Andscacs, Fire, and Jonny.

The Russian Higher League is taking place 22 June – 1 July in the Kolomna Speed-skating Center in Russia. Top seeded players are Maxim Matlakov, Vadim Zvjaginsev, Daniil Dubov, Sanan Sjugirov, Vladimir Fedoseev, Igor Lysyj, Aleksandr Rakhmanov, Ivan Popov, Alexander Riazantsev, Evgeny Romanov, Mikhailv Kobalia, etc.

The time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves then 30 minutes to the end of the game, with a 30-second increment from move 1. Live games will be daily on Chessdom.com with the analysis by the TCEC champions Stockfish, Houdini, and Komodo.

Magnus Carlsen confirmed his domination in the 2016 Grand Chess Tour. After taking the silver in Paris, Carlsen was totally dominant in the Leuven Grand Chess Tour.
