Le Quang Liem wins SPICE Cup 2015

The 2015 SPICE Cup Open, sponsored by Webster University and the Susan Polgar Foundation, was held on 17-22nd October at the Crowne Plaza Clayton Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri, USA.

The 9-round Swiss tournament was open to the players rated over 2100 FIDE and provided opportunity for GM/IM norms.

The captain of the Webster University team GM Le Quang Liem took a clear first place with 7,0/9 points to win the top prize of 5000 USD.

World Chess Championship for Disabled 2015 – Winners

The World Chess Championship for Disabled 2015 has come to an end. Lakhdar Mazouz of Algeria, Advisor to the FIDE President in chess development in Africa was an official guest of the Round. He has made the first ceremonial move on Board 1 in the game Smirnov vs. Gurbanov. Also, Mr. Mazouz gave an interview having shared his opinion on the organization of the World Championship for Disabled.

World Youth Championship 2015 – Open U18

The FIDE World Youth Chess Championship 2015 – Open U18 is taking place in Porto Carras, Halkidiki, Greece, from 24th October through 6th November 2015.

The event is an 11-round Swiss open tournament U18. Indian player GM Suri Vaibhav (2561) heads the field of 117 participants from 72 different countries, including 2 GMs and 11 IMs.
