International Open Tournament Pula 2015

The 29th International Open Tournament Pula 2015 is taking place 13-20th June at the Hotel Park Plaza Histria in Pula, Croatia.

The 9-round Swiss event is organized by the Chess Club Pula and Croatian Chess Federation. The total prize fund is 7330 EUR.

At the present 222 players from 19 countries are registered to take part in the event. Among them are 8 Grandmasters and 15 International Masters.

Seniors 65 & Seniors 50 at ASEAN+ Age-Group Championships

While there has long been a category for Seniors in the ASEAN+ Age-Group Championships, this year it has been aligned to FIDE competition and is now played as Seniors 65+ and Seniors 50+.

There are seven entries in Seniors 65+ and it is played as a seven round robin or six games with a very welcome bye while there are sixteen entries in Seniors 50+.

19th Voronezh FIDE Open 2015 LIVE!

The 19th Voronezh International Chess Festival 2015 is taking place from 10-20th June at the Voronezh Chess Club, F.Engels str. 34, in Voronezh, Russian Federation.

The FIDE open (Elo < 2200) is a 9-round Swiss tournament with tempo of play 90′/ 40 + 30′ + 30″.

Top seed is Ukrainian player Evgeny Maratkanov (2198).

19th Voronezh Master Open Alekhine Memorial LIVE!

The 19th Voronezh International Chess Festival 2015 is taking place from 10-20th June at the Voronezh Chess Club, F.Engels str. 34, in Voronezh, Russian Federation.

The Master open (Elo > 2200) is a 9-round Swiss tournament, part of ACP Tour 2015, Russia Cup 2015, and it’s valid for FIDE rating and norms.

1st FIDE World Online Women Blitz Championship 2015

The 1st FIDE World Online Women Blitz Championship 2015 is scheduled to start from 18th June on the official FIDE Online platform.

The first stage of the Championship will be completed over eight (8) qualifier tournaments, followed by a semifinal with 64 players, and a final tournament with 10 players.

The winner of the final tournament will be awarded with the prestigious title of FIDE World Online Women Blitz Champion.

Greek Open Chess Championship 2015 is integrated with “Ikaros”!

The Greek Chess Federation has responded positively to the request of the organization committee of Ikaros to integrate the Greek Open Championship 2015 with the 38th Ikaros International Tournament!

This, combined with the strong international field means that this year’s “Ikaros 2015″ will be an interesting and competitive event.

IM Ekstroem and Tworzydło joint winers of the Lucky Dino Open in Malta

The first edition of the Lucky Dino Open was played 20-26 May in Sliema, Malta. The joint winners, a Swedish IM Roland Ekstroem and a Polish Candidate Master Piotr Tworzydło scored 7,5 out of 9 and were followed by a Romanian player Tiberiu-Petre Stanciu, who finished 1,5 points behind them.

FIDE Skills Management Committee at the Magistral Ciudad de Leon

On the occasion of the 28th Magistral Ciudad de Leon Tournament the FIDE Skills Management Committee (SMC) was invited to give a speech at the local Club de Prensa.

The Chairman and GM Roberto Mogranzini was invited by the tournament organizer IM Marcelino Sión Castro to introduce to the Spanish audience some of the ideas and theories basing the approach of getting together chess and business.

ASEAN+ Age-Group Championships – Round 5 Report

Singapore 2015 is arguably seeing the strongest ever ASEAN+ Age-Group Championships held so far with seedings, titles, and reputations counting for nothing especially in the higher ages categories.

In Open U-20 it is FM Tin Jingyao from Singapore, Dhulipalla Chandra Prasad from India and FM Bui Trong Hao from Vietnam who are all on 4/5 and in the lead.
