With a record 459 players from 18 countries, the 16th ASEAN+ Age-Group Chess Championships has now begun in Singapore where the SEA (South East Asian) Games in also currently concurrently taking place and which is also part of the island nation 50th anniversary celebrations.

FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar in Doha, Qatar – Results

From 28 to 31 May 2015 a FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was organized in Doha, Qatar, by the Qatar Chess Association, in cooperation with the Qatar Olympic Academy and under auspices of FIDE.

The lecturer was IA Mahdi Abdulrahim (UAE), FIDE Arbiters’ Commission Councilor and FIDE Lecturer and Assistant lecturer was IA Michael Shadarevian (SYR).

The seminar was held in the venue of Qatar Olympic Academy in Doha.

The lectures were in Arabic and in English language.

Armenian School A.P.Chekhov wins White Rook Final in Dagomys

The final round of the White Rook School Chess Tournament was played on June 8 in Dagomys.

School #55 named after Anton Chekhov (Yerevan, Armenia) defeated School #17 from Yakutsk (Sakha Republic) 3-1, and took the first place with a total of 25 points.

2nd Gymnasium of St. Petersburg that was in the lead after 8 rounds, lost the match to Fryazino School (Moscow Region) and finished at the second place.

ECU and EU ready for joint projects

ECU President Zurab Azmaiparashvili and chess legend GM Judit Polgar visited Brussels on 2-3rd June for important meetings with the European Commission (Education, Culture & Sports) and the European Parliament Committee on Culture and Education.
