The 21st Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival Masters Tournament is taking place from 20-29th August at the Abu Dhabi Chess & Culture Club in United Arab Emirates.

The main event of the Festival is Masters Tournament for foreign players rated above 2000 elo and all Abu Dhabi players.

After six rounds of play Indian IM Karthikeyan Murali 2462 and Russian GM Volkov Sergey 2583 are leading with 5,0 points each. Seven players are close behind on 4,5 points.

The 2014 Sinquefield Cup will be the highest-rated tournament in the history of chess, bringing six of the world’s top-nine Grandmasters together at the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis.

World Champion Magnus Carlsen (2877), winner of the 2013 Sinquefield Cup, will return to defend his title against an expanded field. This year’s prestigious event will award $100,000 to its winner, part of a $315,000 total prize fund.

The 75th Armenian Men’s Individual Chess Championship is taking place from 21st August to 4th September in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

The event is a 14-player round-robin tournament. Top seed is GM Hovhannes Gabuzyan (2582).
