Ukraine dominates European Youth Rapid Chess 2024

Ukrainian young chess players have stormed through the European Youth Rapid Chess 2024, which took place 17-18 August in the Czech Republic. The Ukrainian youngsters won 4 golds, 6 silver, and 3 bronze to top the medals table of the championship. The second place is for Poland with 2 golds, 2 silvers, and 5 bronze medals, while third is Romania with 2 golds and 1 silver medal.

Arianne Caoili Memorial 2024

The Gold Coast Chess club organizes Arianne Caoili Memorial 2024. The event will take place 23-25 August at Broadbeach Cultural Centre, 61 Sunshine Blvd, Broadbeach Waters QLD 4218, Australia.

This is the 4th annual event to commemorate the life and chess of WIM Arianne Caoili, who began her chess journey at Somerset College and tragically passed away in 2020 in her prime.

Maria Siekanska is rapid champion of Europe for girls U18

Maria Siekanska is the winner of European Youth Chess 2024 in the girls U18 section. She scored 7,0/9, the same points as Alexandra Shvedova, but better tiebreak. The bronze medal on tiebreak is for Lucia Sevcikova.

Aleks Sahakyan is rapid champion of Europe U18

Aleks Sahakyan is the winner of European Youth Chess 2024. He scored 7,5/9, half a point ahead of the silver medalist Vladislav Fishchuk and a point ahead of five other players. The bronze medal on tiebreak is for Jan Klimkowski, who finished with the same points, but better tiebreak than a group of five players.
